O, Love, My Dearest Love

O, love, my dearest love,
With tears and sadness bearing,
‘Tis upon this, your day,
Your heart and mind are tearing.

Please, know that I am near,
Though yoked by this, my trouble,
My thoughts, today, are you;
Your portion will be double.

Although the time has passed,
And the daylight’s filled its stay,
We’ll henceforth to the eve
What could not be made today.

I promise.
